Dr. Osgood is co-founder and President of Knowledge Institute, Inc., an economic development philanthropic organization and convener of entrepreneurial development talent that specializes in building interactive small business resource communities, educational curriculum and marketing communication strategies. His work is recognized by government agencies, Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit public assistance organizations and millions of entrepreneurs around the globe for its impact in small business development and education.
At the Institute, Dr. Osgood directs the organization's strategic vision, educational curriculum, consulting programs, and financial management. He has served the business community worldwide as consultant, entrepreneur, professor, speaker and author, and is acknowledged by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as an internationally recognized expert in small business development and as Special District Champion.
As consultant, Dr. Osgood developed and published a unique model for venture creation and worked with a wide range of profit and nonprofit firms in the areas of organizational development and reengineering, marketing, finance, and general management. While manager of urban affairs at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, he authored the Business Planning Guide, the New England Business Resource Directory, and developed BIC-NET, a program providing subsidized Business Planning and management support to growing small business ventures. This program later evolved into the SBA's national Business Information Center (BIC) network. While Director of New Hampshire's Small Business Assistance Center, he took the lead in establishing one of the first Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) in the country and facilitated the development of the New Hampshire High Tech Council.
He has written numerous books published in several languages and distributed internationally on topics dealing with managing and financing a business. His works includes the Common Sense Strategic Management Learning System adopted by the SBA and distributed nationally, and a work assessment profiling system utilized by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). He is an expert in the development of business management models and methodologies including the Strategic Knowledge Management System™ and the Workforce Knowledgement System. Two of his most recent high tech ventures included the conception, launch and ultimate sale of an Internet-based environmental technology firm and the successful turnaround and ultimate sale of a manufacturing company, which he grew to industry preeminence on an international scale over a ten-year period.
His work with students includes having taught undergraduate and graduate courses in entrepreneurship at Northeastern University, University of New Hampshire, Southern New Hampshire University, Boston University, and the College for Lifelong Learning, University System of New Hampshire, as well as delivering lectures at Babson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and New Hampshire Technical College. He holds a Doctorate in Organizational Behavior from Boston University graduating summa cum laude, a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Northeastern University and served his country as a veteran in the U.S. military.
